AI Ethics & Editorial Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
I am a mechanic, not a typist. I use AI tools (like ChatGPT) to help me organize my notes, fix my spelling, and structure these guides. However, no robot touches a tool for me. The product research and safety advice come from human experience.
1. Our Philosophy on AI
At Hydraulic Tools Shop, we embrace technology. Just as a hydraulic press makes it easier to bend steel, Artificial Intelligence (AI) makes it easier to run a website.
However, we believe the internet is flooded with low-quality, automated spam. We refuse to be part of that problem.
2. How We Use AI (The “Co-Pilot” Model)
We use Large Language Models (LLMs) as a “Writing Assistant,” not a replacement for human expertise.
- Research: AI helps us aggregate technical specifications (weight limits, PSI ratings, dimensions) quickly. A human verifies these numbers.
- Drafting: We use AI to outline articles and improve readability.
- Editing: We use AI to check for grammar and spelling errors.
3. What AI Does NOT Do
To ensure your safety, we draw a hard line on what automation is allowed to do:
- AI does not write safety advice: All safety warnings regarding jack stands, hydraulic pressure, and load limits are written or reviewed by a human with mechanical experience.
- AI does not “Opinion”: If we say a tool is “junk,” that is a human assessment based on build quality and user reports, not an AI hallucination.
4. Use of AI Imagery
Taking professional, well-lit photography in a working garage is difficult and dangerous. To make this website visually appealing, we utilize Generative AI tools (such as Midjourney) to create:
- Feature images / Thumbnails.
- Illustrative diagrams.
- Brand Personas: The visual representation of “Hank” and other branding elements may be AI-generated artistic representations designed to convey the “Blue Collar” spirit of our brand.
5. Fact-Checking & Accountability
AI can make mistakes (hallucinations). We have a human review process in place to catch these errors. However, if you spot an error in a technical specification (such as a tonnage rating), please contact us immediately so we can fix it.
